Laurie ShepardLaurie was born in Cordele, Georgia in 1972 and graduated from Crisp County High School in 1991. A well respected hitting, fielding and conditioning instructor in the Atlanta area, Laurie played four years of softball at Florida State University while on scholarship and was team captain in 1995.
Laurie was named one of the Top 10 Female Athletes of All Time in Middle Georgia in 1997. In 1995 she was awarded the Georgia Peach of an Athlete Role Model Award and was also a FSU NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee. A 1995 Women's Professional Fast Pitch League Draftee, Laurie was selected All-Southeast Region in 1994 and 1995, and was also selected All-ACC and All-ACC Metro in 1995. While at Florida State Laurie contributed to the team's ACC Championship titles in 1992, 1993 and 1995 and also participated in both the 1992 and 1993 College World Series.
In 1996 and 1997, Laurie was a pitcher for the Colorado Silver Bullets (Professional Women's Baseball Team coached by Hall of Famer Phil Neikro). Over the past 10 years Laurie has instructed young athletes across the Southeast and has helped place more than 75 athletes to college programs.
Laurie graduated from Florida State University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Fitness and Nutrition with a Minor in Coaching.
